A study on mosquitoes composition and malaria transmission in some communities in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Nigeria

The paucity of information on malaria vectors in rural areas continues to pose a problem the public health sector Nigeria. Thus, study mosquitoes composition and transmission some communities Doma Local Government Area (LGA) Nasarawa State, Nigeria was carried out between April July 2021. Indoor resting were collected using standard pyrethrum spray catch (PSC) from 0600 0900 hours. transferred into well labelled petri-dish transported laboratory for processing. A total 1,317 which spread across Iwashi 1,132 (85.9%) Ruttu 185 (14.0%) communities. results obtained indicate that Anopheles had higher abundance 1,020 (77.4%) females constituted 886 (67.3%) population while anopheline males accounted 134 (10.2%). relation groups, species sex respectively varied significantly (p < 0.05). zero (0.0%) sporozoite rate recorded 654 female gambiae s. l. dissected, although oocyst seen alimentary canal 78 (11.9%) may be an indicator possible potential transmission. this call all inhabitants two selected as LGA at large always clear breeding sites. Also, members should ensure proper protection against vector-human contact by sleeping under insecticide treated bed nets.
